Planning a backyard wedding helped cut costs for my family when my sister married last year. This was her third marriage after being widowed and divorced, so we wanted to make it memorable without going over the top. Our side yard takes up half an acre, and had recently been landscaped with a huge deck, outdoor kitchen completes with built in grill, quartz stone-faced island, a bar and a pergola. When she asked to make it the setting for her big day and we thought it was the perfect idea. All along, we thought of family when we laid out the plans for our remodel. I’m glad we decided to put in French doors that lead from our master bedroom to the deck. They will make the perfect entry point for the bride. She picked out the color scheme and after setting the date, we focused our attention on getting the guest list together. We both agreed on one thing, we’d turn to Groupon to make the purchases for most of the things we needed. We both love to gab about all the stuff we buy using those money saving Groupons that change every day. When someone asked what her theme was, she jokingly said “post Groupon with a touch of cheap!”
Making the arrangements for the food and wine were all done online using Groupons and recommendations from friends. We even found great deals for the rental cars and chose Alamo because they offered savings and convenience we needed. We have many guests coming from out of town who will need to get around. We’ve dubbed Alamo the official rental car agency for the wedding. They offer deals like full size cars for less than $10 a day, single car upgrades, and enough coupon codes and exclusive deals to stock a fleet.
We can’t wait for the big day to come. We have kept to our plan of having the most fun for the least amount of money and we did it all with Groupon. This year has been the busiest ever with graduations, proms, senior trips and job interviews for my high school senior, and unexpected visits from relatives on their way to other destination. We love it when family drops in. From the time we were small, putting up a relative for the night or weekend was exciting. It often meant riding in the back seat while our parents gave them the “ten-cent tour” of our town. Now, I just reserve a car at Alamo, park my little two-seater, and take off.
If you’re in need of cars for special occasions this summer, shop Groupon for steals and deals like those for Alamo. You have nothing to lose but outrageous prices.
